How to Clean VR 35 Drop Sensor Error

📢 Voice announcement: “Please clean drop sensors.”

If your VR 35 displays a drop sensor error, it means the robot’s cliff detection sensors may be dirty or blocked. These sensors help prevent falls from stairs or edges, and need to be kept clean for safe operation.

1. Power Off the Robot

  • Switch off the robot using the main power switch.

  • Turn the robot upside down on a soft, flat surface.

2. Locate the Drop Sensors

  • The VR 35 has multiple drop sensors on its underside.

  • These are small, dark, round or rectangular windows near the edges of the bottom surface.

3. Clean the Sensors Gently

  • Use a dry, soft cloth or a microfibre cloth to gently wipe the sensor surfaces.

  • For stubborn dust, you may use a slightly damp cloth — but make sure to wipe it dry immediately.

4. Check for Scratches or Physical Damage

  • If the sensors appear scratched or cloudy, they may not function properly.

  • Avoid using abrasive tools or chemicals that could damage the lens.

5. Restart and Observe

  • Power the robot back on and run a short cleaning cycle.

  • The error should no longer occur if the sensors are clean and working correctly.

If the drop sensor error continues, please contact the Floorbotics support team for further assistance.
