How to Clean the Charging Contacts and Infrared Sensors on the VR 35

Regularly cleaning the charging contacts and infrared sensors on your VR 35 helps maintain smooth operation, accurate navigation, and reliable docking. Dust build-up on these components may cause performance issues if not addressed.

1. Turn Off the Machine Before Cleaning

  • Power off the robot and disconnect it from the charging dock.

  • Ensure your hands are dry during maintenance.

2. Clean the Charging Contacts

  • Locate the two metal charging contacts on the rear underside of the robot.

  • Use a dry, soft cloth to gently wipe off any dust, smudges or residue.

  • Also, clean the corresponding contact points on the cleaning dock.

  • Avoid using liquids or wet wipes on electrical contacts.

3. Wipe the Infrared and Navigation Sensors

Clean the following sensor areas:

  • Bottom cliff sensors (underneath the unit)

  • Wall-edge sensors (side of the unit)

  • Laser and infrared sensors (front panel)

  • Recharging alignment sensor and radar unit

Use a clean, dry microfibre cloth to wipe each sensor area carefully.
If needed, use a small soft brush to remove trapped dust from narrow spaces.

4. Clean the Recharging Signal Transmitter on the Dock

  • Locate the signal transmitter on the charging dock.

  • Wipe the area gently with a dry cloth.

  • Ensure nothing is covering or blocking the signal.

Important Notes

  • Clean these components at least once a month, or more frequently in dusty environments.

  • Never spray water or use cleaning sprays directly on the robot or dock.

  • If sensors remain dirty, it may affect navigation, docking accuracy, or dust collection timing.
