If your Quad 800 is showing a blurry map or double image during mapping, it’s usually caused by speed, sensor issues, or tricky environments like glass walls. Follow the steps below to fix it quickly:
Common Causes
-
The robot is moving too fast
When the Quad 800 moves too quickly during mapping, it can't collect accurate laser data, which causes overlapping or distorted maps. -
The laser sensor is dirty or blocked
Dust or debris on the laser sensor can interfere with scanning and lead to image duplication or blurry outlines. -
Glass walls or transparent objects are nearby
Transparent materials like glass confuse the laser scanner, causing false reflections and mismapped zones.
How to Fix It
-
Reduce mapping speed
Go into the Mapping interface on the app and lower the speed to medium or low. Then, manually drive the Quad 800 around to rebuild the map more accurately. -
Clean the laser sensor
Use a dry, dust-free cloth to gently wipe the laser sensor on the front or top of the machine. Make sure there are no stickers or objects covering it. -
Use virtual walls
If your cleaning area includes glass walls or mirrors, set up virtual boundaries in the app to guide the Quad 800 away from those tricky zones.
Pro Tip
Start the mapping from an area with clear surroundings and strong landmarks. Avoid mirrors, glass, and clutter while creating your initial map.
