How to Maintain the Quad 800 Squeegee Blade for Better Suction

The squeegee blade on your Quad 800 is essential for effective water recovery. If it becomes dirty or worn out, the machine may leave water streaks behind or struggle to dry the floor properly. Regular cleaning and inspection of the blade ensures strong suction and reliable results every time you clean.

Why the Squeegee Needs Maintenance

As the squeegee moves along the floor, it collects hair, dust, and debris. These materials can build up along the rubber edge and reduce the contact between the blade and the floor. When that happens, suction becomes uneven, and water is left behind.

How to Clean and Check the Blade

It’s best to inspect and wipe down the squeegee after every use. Follow these simple steps:

  • Use a damp cloth to clean the inside surface of the rubber blade.

  • Remove any hair, string or debris stuck along the edge.

  • Make sure the rubber strip lies flat against the floor when in use.

If the blade is still not working well after cleaning, check for signs of wear such as cracking, hardening, or misshaping.

When to Replace the Squeegee Strip

The squeegee strip should be replaced if it no longer makes even contact with the floor or shows clear signs of wear. You can also test it by activating the suction, then lightly pulling the water tank buckle. If the tank opens easily, the seal is working. If not, the strip or cover may need adjustment or replacement.
